How Much Does Video Production Cost in Sydney? (2026 Pricing Guide)

We've been quoting video production projects in Sydney since 2007. In that time, we've seen budgets range from a few thousand dollars for a straightforward interview to six figures for large-scale commercial campaigns.

The most common question we hear from new clients is: "How much is this going to cost?"

It's a fair question, and it deserves a straight answer — not the usual "it depends" that most production companies hide behind. So here's an honest breakdown of what video production costs in Sydney in 2026, based on what we actually quote and what the wider market charges.

Video Production Cost Ranges by Type

Every project is different, but after hundreds of productions, clear price bands have emerged. Here's what Sydney businesses should expect to budget in 2026.

Corporate & Marketing Videos

$5,000 – $15,000

This covers internal comms, brand overviews, recruitment videos, and general marketing content. Most projects in this range include scripting, a one-day shoot, professional editing, music licensing, and two rounds of revisions.

A single-camera interview with cutaway footage sits at the lower end. A multi-location shoot with motion graphics and professional voiceover reaches the upper end.

Brand Films & Company Stories

$8,000 – $25,000

Brand films require more narrative craft than a standard corporate video. They involve deeper pre-production, often multiple interview subjects, B-roll across several locations, and higher production value in colour grading and sound design.

This is where story matters as much as visually compelling footage and that storytelling takes time to develop properly.

Project spotlight: Buildcorp wanted to promote their sponsorship of the Australia's national women's rugby team through an inspiring and powerful brand film to feature at matches, via digital marketing and at corporate events. Their aim was to bring Buildcorp’s sponsorship of women’s rugby off the page and into the hearts and minds of their partners and communities. The film also contrasts the professionalism and hard work the athletes put in every day with the equally hard work and professionalism Buildcorp’s construction teams put into their projects.

Testimonial & Case Study Videos

$3,000 – $8,000

Testimonial videos are one of the best-value investments a business can make. They're typically shorter, shot in one or two locations, and feature real customers or team members.

If you batch multiple testimonials into a single shoot day, the per-video cost drops significantly — often to $2,000–$3,000 each.

Explainer & Animation Videos

$5,000 – $20,000

Animated explainers vary enormously depending on style, length, and complexity. A clean 2D motion graphics video explaining a product or process might cost $5,000–$8,000. Fully illustrated, character-driven animation with custom assets pushes toward $15,000–$20,000.

We produce both animated and live-action explainers — and sometimes a hybrid of the two works best for the budget.

Social Media & Short-Form Content

$3,000 – $10,000

Short-form content (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts) is one of the fastest-growing categories in video production. The smart approach is to build short-form outputs into a larger production, rather than treating them as a separate project.

For example, when we produced the national Get Behind It campaign for the Bowel Cancer Screening Program, the hero deliverable was a 60-second promo video — but by planning for it during production, we also captured 15 short-form reels (15–30 seconds each). That's additional social content at a fraction of the cost of producing it from scratch.

The key is designing your shot list with multiple outputs in mind from the start.

TVCs & Commercial Campaigns

$15,000 – $50,000+

Television commercials and large-scale advertising campaigns sit at the top of the budget range. They involve multi-day shoots, larger crews, talent fees, location permits, and broadcast-quality post-production including ClearAds compliance.

At the top end, productions with significant logistics, interstate travel, aerial cinematography, or large cast — can exceed $50,000.

Client case study: Avida engaged Global Pictures to create this lifestyle commercial to use on TV and online, showing potential customers what they can experience when owning an Avida Motorhome or Caravan. The project was a 3-day commercial shoot featuring a crew of 6 team members including our Producer/production manager, Director/Cinematographer, Camera assistant, lighting technician, drone operator and production assistant.  Across the 6-month TV campaign Avida saw a 20% increase in sales compared to the same period the previous year.

Product Videos

$5,000 – $30,000

Product videos showcase what you sell in its best light — literally. Whether it's a hero product launch, a how-to demonstration, or lifestyle content showing the product in use, these videos are built to drive purchase decisions.

Simpler tabletop or studio shoots sit at the lower end. Larger productions that combine location filming, lifestyle scenes, and detailed close-ups push higher. Add animation or motion graphics to explain features, and you're toward the $20,000–$30,000 range.

If you're an e-commerce brand, a well-produced product video often pays for itself faster than any other video type.

What Drives the Cost of Video Production?

Understanding what influences pricing helps you make smarter choices during the briefing stage. Here are the biggest cost drivers we see.

Crew Size and Specialty Skills

Different specialist crew are required depending on the project and it’s our job to ensure the right operators are assigned to each project. For more basic shoots, a solo videographer costs $1,000–$2,000 per day. Upskill to a Director/Cinematographer and you’re looking at $2,500–$3,000. A two-person crew (camera + assistant) for corporate shoots such as interviews and b-roll runs $2,500–$4,000. Add a lighting technician, hair and makeup, and a sound recordist you're looking at $8,000–$10,000+ per day.

For most corporate work, a two-person crew delivers the best balance of quality and value.

Number of Shoot Days

This is the single biggest cost lever. A standard half day is 4-hours and falls into either the AM or PM timeslots. A standard full day is 8-hours and an extended day (usually reserved for commercials) is 10-hours. The type and number of crew multiplied by the number of shoot days is where the cost of production begins to grow. Coming up with efficient ways to minimise the number of shoot days can be the most cost effective method of managing the cost of production.

Pro tip: Batch multiple videos into fewer shoot days. We often film three or four testimonials in a single day or combine a brand video with social content.

Production Complexity

Scripting, storyboarding, location scouting, casting, and talent management typically add $2,000–$5,500 to a project. For simpler projects (a straightforward interview in your office), pre-production costs are minimal.

Post-Production

Editing, colour grading, motion graphics, sound design, music licensing, and subtitling. A basic edit might take a day; a complex brand film with a number of cutdowns and reformats for socials might take two to three weeks of post-production.

Post-production typically accounts for 30–40% of the total project budget.

Location & Travel

Sydney metro shoots have minimal travel costs. Regional NSW or interstate work adds accommodation, flights, car hire, and equipment transport — typically $1,500–$3,000+ depending on the location. For most corporate video shoots Global Pictures have local crew in VIC, QLD, SA, WA and New Zealand, which removes the cost of travel to deliver a more time efficient and cost-effective production.

Talent

Using your own team in videos costs nothing extra. Professional presenters or actors generally add $800–$2,000+ per day.

Combining Video + Photography Saves You Money

Here's something many of our competitors don’t offer… we produce video and photography on the same shoot.

Think about it: if you're already bringing a crew to a location, setting up lighting, and working with your team or talent, capturing professional stills at the same time costs a fraction of booking a separate photographer on a different day.

One shoot. Two asset libraries. The extra cost (including photo editing) to have a dedicated photographer onsite to take photos during the video shoot adds approximately $3,000 and consistently saves our clients 30–40% compared to booking video and photography separately.

Project spotlight: Allcastle Homes engaged Global Pictures to produce their lifestyle television commercials. Due to the logistics and costs associated with planning the shoot day, it made complete sense to plan the photography shoot alongside the video shoot to ensure the same look and feel would translate across the campaign. By doing this, the cost of talent, lighting, art direction and props (to name just a few benefits) were significantly reduced simply by scheduling the photography into the same day.  The result is a more cost effective and cohesive brand campaign.

The Bottom Line When it Comes to Finding the True Cost of Your Video Production in Sydney

For most Sydney businesses, a well-produced corporate or marketing video will cost between $5,000 and $15,000. Brand films and campaign work sit higher at $10,000 to $50,000+. And if you're smart about batching content and combining video with photography, you can stretch your budget significantly further.

The best investment isn't the cheapest video; it's the one that actually gets used and delivers results for years. We've produced videos that clients have used for three, five, even seven years across their marketing, sales, and internal communications.

That's the kind of return worth budgeting for.
