Get Behind It: The Campaign Video That’s Saving Lives — One Screen at a Time

The National Bowel Cancer Screening Program 2025 promo video produced by Global Pictures.

Briefed to us by the team at The LKB Agency on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, the video supports the marketing and promotion of the 2025 Get Behind It roadshow campaign for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.

The video was filmed across NSW, VIC and SA and features 6 well-known Aussie's from across food, sport and health.

Behind The Scenes On The Campaign Video

The video was filmed across multiple states using 3 different cinematographers.  This is something we do regularly at Global Pictures as a way to deliver a more cost effective multi-state production for our clients, by eliminating the cost of travel. However, if not managed correctly, changing cinematographers can be fraught with pitfalls due to the differing ways each cinematographer might choose to light and frame a scene. For this reason, it was imperative to come up with a set of style and technical requirements that would ensure each ambassadors piece to camera matched from scene to scene. From lighting, to framing, to actually measuring the distance from the camera to the talent using a tape measure, all 6 ambassadors got the same treatment. The above image shows how we used rule of thirds frame guides to ensure each persons eye-line and shoulders would land in the same position as we cut from person to person.

Each presented read the entire script from a teleprompter. This gave us the flexibility in post-production to choose where to cut and which person gets what line.

Indoor setups were lit using 3-point lighting controlled with dimmers to create a bright side, shadow side and highlight on the hair for background separation.

Outdoor setups were controlled using a combination of sunlight filtration (also known as a scrim) and negative fill to create a shadow on one side of the face created by the large black floppy. I really don't like to see lapel microphones in shot so the sound was recorded using a boom mic with a big wind sock to ensure any wind noise is not a problem.

That's a Wrap!

We hope you enjoyed a peak behind the scenes on this campaign video production. If you have a video you'd like to discuss, give us a call or send us an email.
