Ben - Director / Producer

Ben’s passion for visual storytelling has led him into a life dedicated to video production.

Ben’s studies began at the JMC Academy in Sydney for an Advanced Diploma in digital television production, followed with a Bachelor of Communications with the University of New England. In addition to this, Ben has also engaged in business management studies at St George TAFE.

Ben began Global Pictures in 2007 as a start-up company offering corporate video production services to local businesses and has since grown the company to a respectable corporate production house boasting a repertoire of clients comprised of some of Australia’s biggest companies. These include: BHP Billiton, Mortgage House and Toyota Motor Corporation.

As well as being highly skilled at writing, directing and producing, Ben is also proficient with hands on production including camera operation, lighting, sound recording, digital video editing, digital chroma keying, digital effects, and DVD authoring. To add to this list of expertise, Ben is competent with a range of professional software applications including: Final cut pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Motion, and DVD Studio Pro.

Aside from corporate video production, Ben has also engaged in the production of a number of short film productions. In 2007, Ben was awarded best editor for his film “Tiger 1” in the Diet Coke Short Film Competition. In 2009 Ben was awarded winner at the Short Sited 13 Film Competition for his film “Not to be taken with alcohol”. And in 2010, Ben was published in a range of publications for his short film “Storm in a Teacup”, which was produced using a combination of on-location and seamlessly integrated green screen studio scenes. Before the commencement of the production, the film attracted the involvement of former Australian Idol alumnus and Home and Away star, Axle Whitehead for the lead male role. Articles about Ben’s production of “Storm in a Teacup” were published by popular publications such as: Inside Film, MX Magazine, The Shire Leader, The Southern Courier, and The Australian.
